Born in California and raised on the
Monterey
Peninsula, Scott was exposed at an early age, to a broad range of
music: from
rock and roll, R&B, blues and
country, to big band swing, pop standards, and classical. Because his
family once operated a side business of maintaining jukeboxes at local restaurant and bar establishments,
of which included keeping them supplied with the latest hit records; by the time Scott
was born,
the family had accumulated a sizeable
collection of old 45's. Scott spent countless early childhood hours listening to these records,
which spanned the 'golden era' of American pop music: 1940's through 1960's,
and this greatly influenced his
later musical development. He was singing as long as
he can remember,
and began formal piano lessons at the age of four. He performed in rock
bands in his teens, but later returned to his earlier interest in
classic pop standards, blues and country, majoring in jazz vocal
and keyboard performance in college. He also studied with
world renowned vocal coach,
Judy Davis.
Scott
was a top finalist in the 2nd annual Asian Spotlight San Francisco Bay Area
talent search
contest which aired on KTSF
TV channel 26. He's also appeared as a featured guest performer on the television
show, Eastern Exposure. Scott's performance engagements have also included an extended run at DJs Piano Bar in Walnut Creek, and
Ricks Restaurant in San Francisco.
Scott currently performs on a
Yamaha Tyros 5
keyboard, presenting an exciting "one man band" show featuring fresh renditions of classic pop standards. In addition to his heartfelt vocal
delivery and fine keyboard playing skills, his ability to concurrently trigger
the keyboard to
produce an authentically live sounding 'back
up band' (from intimate combo to large orchestra) makes his act
extra special.
